A shortI(ish) walk with Jackie around Creag Bheag rather than over it. While the sun was out in Kingussie, it was a chilly -2 at the car. We started the walk by following the trail up alongside the Gynack Burn. Then is was a section of the access route to Pitmain Lodge before crossing the burn to skirt the golf course.
Strathspey across the golf course Path around the golf course Photo time Ruins at Toman an t-Seomair Creag Mhor and Loch Gynack At Loch Gynack we took a wrong turn and ploughed through a faint heathery path along the shore. I suspected there was a better path higher up so we spent a couple of minutes wading through knee-deep heather to reach it. It immediately dropped back down to the shore so we probably should have carried on the way we were going!
Creag Liath across Loch Gynack Glen Banchor After clearing Loch Gynack, we finally emerged properly into the sun - a good opportunity for lunch.
Looking back to Loch Gynack A Chailleach Drumochter hills to Creag Dubh Western Cairngorms above Glen Feshie A Chailleach Creag Dhubh Creag Bheag Above Pitmain farm, we didn't manage to pick up any of the paths that return through the woods, so we dropped down to the A86 and walked back along the cycle path.
We stopped in Aviemore for ice cream on hot waffles from Mieles on the way home. Perfect!
