I was on my way from a course in Glasgow, 3 days of sitting down, to visit family in the West Midlands.
There were heavy hail showers on the M74 but as i approached Abington it cleared and i spotted Tinto and thought i'd go for it, so i got a map from the services and drove round the A73 to fall burn and the carpark.
Put on my running shoes and walked up :) It was quite steep but easy going, no bog, a big gravelly path, through a field of cows which seemed used to walkers and didn't take any notice and up to the summit in 45 mins (about 2 miles and 1600ft ascent).
The views from the giant cairn were outstanding with heavy showers in the distance but it was freezing in the wind so i turned round and jogged back down and headed down south feeling much better.

Is that the round, bald, red-scree topped mountain you can see from the A74 somewhere before Abington services (on the right going north)? If so, I've been fancying that for ages...

That's the one. It's our local popular wee hill 'round these parts and normally very busy. First did it as a 4 year old and my daughter first did it when she was 5.
