This is a route I have done before, but for whatever reason I don't seem to have a trip report for the previous ascent though the hill has been ticked off. It has changed since I was last up with the trees felled higher up and some new tracks cutting corners to head out onto the open summit area. Nice quick walk though a lot of steps up the initial steep part! A number of gliders and some small planes out enjoying the weather too.

Man, I wish I could have been up there this morning with the dog instead of being back at the coal face! :(

Was up there today. 17/03/23
Walked round lochore meadows, up Harren hill & then onto Benarty.
Had the day to myself literally as the clouds weee looming coming in from the west & rain was forecast.
But what a view watching the rain come in from the west... pretty spectacular & worth the soaking

I don't like it from this starting point as much as when the trees were still there, so have been going up from the Rspb centre, but will still do this way for speed if I ever try to do all 7 Fife Marilyns in a day again. Had hurt leg and only managed 5 last year.

It’s also a nice walk to go up from RSPB then strike west along the ridge past the trig point and then down by the shooting range at the west end. The ridge is more varied and interesting than it appears from road level.
Probably best done with 2 cars or a drop-off at RSPB then pick-up at the shooting range (good lay-by there). There is now a charge for parking at RSPB. If red flags are flying at the west end of Benarty then the shooting range is in use! Do not go down that way!!!
