What a glorious walk on a wonderful January day. Temperature showing 5C but felt much warmer out the wind. Parked at North Queensferry Station as we would be coming back by train - one every hour on a Sunday.
Testing out new La Sportiva TX4s and they are without doubt the comfiest boots I've ever owned.
We set quite a good pace but the walking was easy. This is more just a HEADS UP of a report where once at Aberlour, the footbridge has been washed away right at the shore. The detour is back up via the railway station but we chose instead to cast off our footwear and paddle over a little upstream of the 'no' bridge bit. Water freezing and a bit stoney and slidey underfoot but not a problem unless burn was in spate (which it must've been when bridge was washed away). I would hope that this bridge is repaired sooner rather than later but worth being aware of. Details of diversion here

The beach was busy, with swimmers and folk just out enjoying the fresh air. Thankfully hubby had brought the stove so we had a wee brew up at a picnic bench and some leftover cake. Got to Burntisland just as 1422 train had left so killed some time wandering - great wee refill shop in the main street and had a drinkie in the Old Port Bar so we needn't feel guilty using their loos. Lots of nice cafes and coffee places to grab a bit if need must. £5.90 single fare back to North Queensferry took 17 minutes. A great day out!
