Another day, another sub-2000 Marilyn, this time Creigh Hill! Headed back to Backwater reservoir driving across the dam and parking in the first signposted parking area where there is lots of space and even a bin! Not that it was tight for space, I was the only one there

Headed to the gate just before the parking area and through that onto grassy moorland following the clear track uphill. With the fence coming into view we turned onto a fainter grassy path cutting off a corner and heading towards another fence following that. 30 minutes and we were at the top, fine if just out to bag a hill but we were out for a W-A-L-K and this just wouldn't do

We investigated Cairn Motherie while I eyed up an extension to the walk. The fence heads towards another hill, the second marginally lower summit of Creigh Hill, and it looked like there was something on the top, so we followed a faint path alongside the fence towards that. The path came and went as we headed through the heather passing through a gate and climbing over another fence before heading up to Cairn Plew. Both Cairn Plew and Cairn Motherie are prehistoric burial mounds so an added interest to this walk though the cairns haven't been dated.

We returned the same way, crossing over to the other side of the fence on the way back skipping having to go through the gate. We did find a different route down, the chances of finding the same path were slim and there are several paths to follow through the heather.

A nice enough walk with an added bit of historical interest :)
