Shortest way up Meall an Tarsaid from the East, with kids (8, 11, 17)

Stats:
Total distance - 1.93 km
Total time - 2h00m
Walking time - 0h53m
Altitude gain - 205 m

The route from the east side of Meall an Tarsaid is the shortest. And there are no fences to climb over, unlike on the other sides of the hill.

We parked at the passing place close to the gate:

The kissing gate was unusable because of mud, but the gate was not locked:

Behind the gate, we continued through sparse forest. We tried to follow a faint path but the ground was so boggy (like a sponge full of water) that we had to look for drier places to cross it.

As we came out of the wood we continued over the bracken. That was a little less boggy:

The best way across was through the heather (a mix of grass and heather). This is where I said “I love heather!” :-D

Heading towards the gully:

The gully was quite walkable - a bit steep, with shorter rocky sections:

The summit is immediately after the gully - above, on the right.

Conni on the summit. (Behind, to the left, is Beinn a'Bhacaidh, where we went later the same day.):

A kid on the summit :) :

On the summit there was quite a strong wind, therefore we headed down quite quickly.
We took a different way down, but I think the way up was better, easier to walk.

First hill for this day done. Second one was Beinn a'Bhacaidh.
