Decided to tackle Mile Hill from the east on a very easy route with ample parking in a big grassy layby bit near a gate into a field just before reaching Braes of Coul if coming from the South. A short distance up the road, which had a nice verge to walk on, and we turned onto a track which was signposted for the shooting club and followed this road passed a couple of houses with several more signs for the shooting club on the way. A gate provides a way around a cattle grid, and shortly after this we turn off onto a track to the left heading towards Gairlaw and going through a set of double gates. We passed the ruins at Gairlaw on the now muddy track and continued on ignoring the first gate on the right. A bit further along I started keeping an eye out for an ascent route soon spotting an ATV track leading uphill where the track entered another field. The ATV track led to a very rusty old gate and once through that we were on open grassland. From here it was just a case of picking a way uphill! Hardest part of this walk was probably finding the summit searching the ground until I found a couple of stones which I guess marked the summit! Having walked up in warm sunshine, once on the summit the weather decided to turn and the walk back was done in snow/sleet/hail

Nice verge to walk on, though we didn't come across any traffic on the road

Follow the signs for the shooting club! If you reach the club itself, you've gone a bit too far!

The girls at the summit, very hard to get them to pose when they have nothing to pose with!
