A really good day on the hills - my first foray into the Glenfiddich Forest.

Parked at the wee car park at Bridgehaugh and followed the road to the sorry-looking Glenfiddich Lodge.

Then turned right onto the rough landrover track and the long ascent towards Corryhabbie Hill.

The wind had been pretty fierce down in the valley and as I approached the summit it picked up even more, making progress difficult with ice and compacted snow underfoot. The shelter was full of snow but I hunkered down behind it for 2 minutes to put my Kahtoola spikes on my boots before the descent.

Plenty of hare tracks in the snow on the descent to the valley floor. Shelter from the wind at last, and a chance to enjoy the sunshine.

An easy (but long) saunter back along the valley, following the river and crossing several fords. Just as I was thinking of lunch, I came across a table and chairs on the path! Sadly, these were surrounded by the four sides (and roof) of the shelter that previously housed them. Storm Arwen to blame for that? Seems like a prime suspect. Anyway, it made for a remarkably civilised lunch :)

Just under five hours for the circuit, and just over 15 miles on the Garmin. Under blue skies the streams shone and the views were magnificent. I suspect Corryhabbie would be rather less welcoming on a grey, wet one.
