Walkhighlands

I had time on my hands after a brief meeting with a friend in Tyndrum’s Green Welly Stop car park so I drove on to the car park at Dalrigh. Not many cars parked up but I noticed that the car park has been extended since I was last there. I’ve been up most of the hills in the vicinity but not Fiarach. A rounded Graham which is overlooked by its bigger, and possibly better neighbours. There’s no Walk Highlands route but a few walk reports all tackling it from different routes. I decided to follow the old road track until I crossed the railway bridge. From there I more or less headed straight up. There’s an ATV track I followed for a bit but it disappeared to the right. It was steep but nothing too difficult. Eventually I got Lochan Fiarach. Although I hoped I was near the summit it wasn’t to be. It was in the far distance over some boggy terrain. There’s an old fence to follow, still not much of a path though. The summit was a craggy rock but dry, away from the bog. Fine views of all the surrounding hills were to be seen from this vantage point. After a few photos, sandwiches eaten headed back towards the Lochan. Here I took a different route down. I headed left along another fence down to the forest. The track could be picked up there and it would save me going down the steep slopes. There’s an ATV track down to the gate into the forest. After that it’s an easy walk through some majestic old Scots Pine trees back to the car. A lovely wee solo walk.
