At last. On Saturday 16 April I climbed Stob Mhic Bheathain from Callop. The weather was dry but overcast with a hint of rain occasionally. I left the car at Callop at 9.25 and returned at 6.00pm. Considering this was my first real walk after suffering from a virus for 10 weeks I was very pleased to have made it.
The distance from Callop ( 20km return ) is shorter than from the Grahams book suggested start at Loch Linne ( 28km round trip ) although there is an extra 190m of re-ascent. I had many stops , for breath and for food, as well as time spent considering the river crossing options .
Met 2 guys in the morning at the col who were doing the Corbett on the same ridge and saw them again a short way off as I approached the col at about 4.00pm.
Only 4 Grahams to go now so am very pleased with this remote tick.
