As there are loads of reports for this route I'll keep mine short. I found this to be fairly easy and somehow I managed to do them both in a quick pace and I hardly felt like I'd done a 10 mile walk when I finished. Stob a' Choire Odhair was very straightforward and presented no problems. The steep ascent just before the Aonach Eagach ridge was pretty tough, but it didn't take long to get to the ridge itself, which was easy peasy. I thought the 'mini' AE would be much longer, but in 5 mins or less I crossed it and carried on to the summit of Stob Ghabhar. The descent by the waterfall was probably the trickiest bit as it was steep and the rocks were wet which presented a few challenges. Good overall route though, just wish I had done it in the winter!

Just before the ascent for Stob Ghabhar I ran into a group of guys eating their lunch, one of them turned out to be Jonny616 from the site who recognized me and my American accent  Always good to run into fellow WH members, nice meeting you guys up there!

Interesting... I did these on a muggy July day a couple of years ago and the heat really sapped my energy - the ascent of Stob Gabhar seemed to go on forever (I went clockwise).

I've been well and truly overtaken in the last 4 months by you both  . A glut of stag dos and weddings has curtailed hillwalking activity somewhat :? .

Hi Stretch

Great pic looking back along the LAE a bit clearer than mine. Your pictures from Glen Etive are stunning.

Great report. I have been hillwalking since January this year after a long absence. I'm thinking about doing this walk this weekend but will admit I'm a bit put off by the ridge section. Do you think my level of experience is suitable ?? Any advice/help would be welcome.

Cheers Del, honestly I don't think you'll have any probs on the ridge. It is reasonably wide and as long as the wind isn't blowing gales it will be straightforward. The ridge itself only takes about 5 minutes or so to cross. The toughest thing I found on this day was the steep climb up from the bealach to just before the ridge, and, there is a steep section of rock to descend when you are heading back to the track on the way out. If it's wet, it's a bit slippery so be careful. Just follow the route described on the site, counterclockwise, and that way if you want to call it a day after Stob a'Choire Odhair you can easily do that.

Let us know how you get on and enjoy, it's a really nice walk.

 This was weeks ago Chris. However, after sadly skipping out on the hills last weekend I'm heading out this one . . . just as the rain returns!
