First hillwalk - Beinn Dubh

Well I've been wanting to get into hillwalking for a good while now and eventually started this week. Asked around and looked on the internet for an easy first one and decided on Beinn Dubh.

From the bottom it looked pretty easy but considering I've been out with injuries for a while and not at anywhere near full fitness I underestimated it!

Just before jumping the style near the top, a great view of Loch Lomond.

By the time I reached the first summit I felt pretty good so decided to push on to the next one.

I was there in no time, almost running at some points. Strange how I struggled so much at the start! Great view from the middle of the ridge.

And finally down the steep grassy hill to the road. My knees were done after that and were very thankful to be back on flat ground for the long walk back along the road.

Overall, a great first hill. Thoroughly enjoyed it, not too hard and some lovely views on a good day.

Hi Rossco. We loved your pictures so much, we had to try it ourselves! Did the whole horseshoe and loved it. Just as you said, we found it a bit of a struggle walking up the first stretch but the views were so amazing we ended up spending time taking lots of photos. We met an elderly gentleman who had climbed to the first cairn and was on his way back down..... for the 3rd time this week!!!! What an inspiration!
