A great walk to the top of Rannerdale Knotts from Buttermere. We headed up through Ghyll Woods and then onto Grassgarth Coppice. From here we walked up the gentle slopes to the top of Rannerdale Knotts itself.

The steep walk down the front of the fell was quite fun although not so good on the knees. But overall a great round trip for a couple of hours and we had spot on weather for the walk too. We saw the rain coming in from over Haystacks and Fleetwith Pike on the way back towards Buttermere and made it back just as the rain started to hit our coats. So overall pretty good and highly recommend to anyone wanting a small fell walk for a couple of hours.
