A friend and I had been travelling on the NC500 in early October, and for a few days we were staying just outside of Tongue - there was a bit of snow on the mountains the night before but the weather forecast was relatively clear for the day so we thought lets make our first Munro the most northern also!

We experienced all sorts of weather on this hike. Short but steep climb to begin with in which all the layers came off.
After the first few treks realised we'd reached some beautiful snow but alas, false summit and knew we had to keep climbing up the snow to make the summit. A little bit dicey as we weren't fully prepared for the amount of snow at the top, or that the summit was in a thick cloud of snow. Thankfully we had passed some hikers on their way back down who offered advice and said we should still be ok at the top.

Built a snowman, enjoyed the snow and back down we went, mindful not to slip over. Out of the wall of cloud and had the most amazing view of the sun hitting the small creeks on the hills opposite. Quick climb back down and we were finished. A great first hike, and also one to remind us to be prepared for all weather. Definitely took some lessons from this one!
