After doing my first solo Munro last week I thought I had better do a Corbett too !! After reading numerous reports on WH I settled on Ben Ledi. The weather reports looked good and I was told the views from the summit are stunning. I was in luck today !
I parked my car on the left over the bridge and set off at 10am. I was the first to arrive.
- Setting off.
I followed the well made path through the forrest section which was a bit steep but not too bad. I eventually could see the sun through the trees.
- Forrest coming to an end.
I continued to follow the pathway still waiting for a view of Ben Ledi. Its easy to follow and impossible to get lost. ( I think !! )
- Pathway, onwards and upwards !!
Ben Ledi then came into view.
- The hill comes into view.
I then continued along the route towards the shoulder. You can see the path below.
- Pathway leading to the shoulder
As I approached the shoulder I turned round for a view of Loch Lubnaig
- Loch Lubnaig
Once on the shoulder Loch Venacher came into view.
- Loch Venacher
I followed the path along the shoulder and the Arrochar Alps came into view. My camera does not do it justice. I could clearly see Ben Lomond, The Cobbler, Ben Ime etc. I was being spoiled today !
- Arrochar Alps
- The Cobbler can just be made out left of centre (honest)
I then came to the last section and on approaching the summit the memorial cross came into view.
- Last bit before the summit
The Memorial Cross is for Sgt Harry Lawrie who was killed on duty with Killin Mountain Rescue Team in 1987.
- Memorial Cross
It was then just a short walk to the Cairn and trig.
- Cairn and Trig
I was the first on the summit today and enjoyed my lunch looking out to the Arrochar Alps.
- First
On the summit I could now see Glen Finglas Reservoir with the Arrochar Alps in the distance.
I could not help myself trying to get another picture of the Cobbler. Its left of centre
- The Cobbler
As I decided to perform a loop and go down via Stank Glen I could not believe it when I saw the Crianlarich Hills !!
- Crianlarich Hills
I did my best to zoom in on the King and Queen of Crianlarich, Ben More and Stob Binnein
- Ben More and Stob Binnein
I then put my camera away ! and made my way down. The descent into Stank Glen was quite steep.
- Descent
I had a fantastic day out today. Although I listed this route taking me 4 hours this includes 20 minutes on the summit and taking my camera out evey 2 minutes because the views were so good. I will return to this hill and highly recommend it.
