We walked the Rob Roy Way (and a little bit extra - we started at the Beech Tree Inn, Dumgoyne) in five days, Monday to Friday in late August.
The walking was easy but we really struggled walking on so much tarmac and forestry road. Our feet (and knees) were very unhappy on that terrain. Our favourite day was the last day from Acharn to Pitlochry, it was everything we'd hoped for in a long distance walk, some hills, incredible views, an osprey sighting (very exciting) and mixed terrain with much of it off-road.
We walked Dumgoyne to Aberfoyle, Aberfoyle to Strathyre, Strathyre to Killin, Killin to Acharn and Acharn to Pitlochry. We found the short day, Strathyre to Killin really did act as a bit of a rest day and we were both much more energetic on the last couple of days.
Warning
Please note that hillwalking when there is snow lying requires an ice-axe, crampons and the knowledge, experience and skill to use them correctly. Summer routes may not be viable or appropriate in winter. See winter information on our skills and safety pages for more information.
