Top Report! I will be up there this summer as my wife has never been to Assynt and your pics are making me very impatient. :)

She took a look at the 'snake' in your last pic and said "Theres snakes up there?!?" so now im currently googling the Slow-worm to show/convince her that its just a harmless lizard.... (wont be telling her about Adders though  )

My friend was talking to me about Suilven and how desperate he is to climb it. If I show him your report he'll probably jump straight in the car and start driving up :D

That was a wonderful read and I'm glad you finally conquered it.

Did suilven 2 years ago. Perfect sunny day in May 2009. I share your enthusiasm and enjoyed your pics and blog.
Suilven is the one mountain that everybody should put on their list of climbs to do before hanging up their boots!

One of the most enjoyable and memorable mountains that I have climbed in Scotland :D Your piccies were great and brought back great memories of a great day.

A fantastic part of Scotland. More outdoor stuff for doing there than there are sticks to shake at!

Looking forward to my next visit! :D :D :D

Nice talk and pics, Black Panther. Most guide books say this is an easy hill via the bealach; I can only believe the writers have never done it with a full rucsac, tent and all!

Great report and photo's

I'm staying at Clachtoll for six days with my family in early August, I'm really hoping I will get the chance to climb Suilven with my oldest daughter.

Great Report

Postby RDJim » Thu Jul 30, 2015 5:41 am

Loved the pics and story. I just came back from Scotland with stories of my own. I hope to get back soon and go further north or some more remote scrambles like this. We never made to much north of Ft. William.

Superb. You've got some great pictures there with the build up to Suilven itself feeling more and more menacing. I agree that it looks that way...so much so that I kept putting it off and putting it off, until it was my penultimate Graham. At age 74, I knew I couldn't get in, up and out in a day, so decided to lug our sleeping bags into the Suileag bothy

Thanks a lot for all recent comments :D This seems an old story now, but every time I see Suilven, I think back to my "menace" adventure :D We actually drove past it yesterday on the way to climb Cranstackie & BS.

Sgurr, I couldn't make the direct link work, but found your Suilven report through SH search. The path on the northern side looks even steeper than the one we used! And what a treat to do this one as your final Graham! Myself, I'll probably never finish the G's... I'll be glad if I ever complete the Munros!
