Day 2 in Torridon, perfect weather again after Beinn Damh yesterday afternoon. Had the night at Torridon campsite so was handily placed for a relatively early start. Considering I'd never been able to see a good way up from the road when passing, the ascent was fine, as was the traverse. Opted for the pinnacles rather than the bypass path, though in such good conditions (dry, sunny, very slight breeze but nothing affecting walking) either route would have been fine. There were a couple of bits where I went along the top route, then couldn't see a safe route down a steep downclimb, so backtracked a few meters to drop down to small bypass paths, but these were so well worn that it seems a lot of people do that. A handful of other people doing Liathach today too, we all seemed to meet up at the second summit as everyone was reluctant to go down, the views and conditions were so great. The steep descent was the worst part for me, a knee jarring penance for the rest of the walk being near perfect.

Parked in the small, rough parking area where I'd be coming down off the hill (just because I came to it first and there was space! Didn't want to continue on to the start point car parking layby and find there was no room). No morning cloud, Liathach was looking great.

APDC8927.JPG
Didn't find the ascent too bad, and it was lovely reaching the ridge and immediately getting the view to the Flowerfield corbetts

APDC8931.JPG
I left my bag at the small cairn and took the relatively quick detour to the right, to get the views of Beinn Eighe from Stuc a Choire Dhubh Bhig

APDC8930.JPG
Heading back down to my bag and start the ridge walk proper, I got the view of what lay ahead

APDC8932.JPG
It was a straightforward walk to the first munro summit, Spidean a Choire Leith, which also has great views to Beinn Eighe

APDC8933.JPG
...and NNW to Baosbheinn and Beinn an Eoin lying either side of Loch na h-Oidhche

APDC8934.JPG
Now I just had to negotiate this section to get to the next munro!

APDC8935.JPG
Fortunately, dry, clear conditions with no strong winds meant good conditions for taking the pinnacle route (though also good conditions for the bypass path)

APDC8936.JPG
Still enjoying my route choice :)

APDC8937.JPG
Looking down onto Torridon village and Beinn Damh, the hill I did yesterday

APDC8938.JPG
Beinn Alligin and the not-quite-munro height corbett of Beinn Dearg from Mullach an Rathain summit

APDC8940.JPG
Beinn Eighe and Spidean a'Choire Leith

APDC8941.JPG
Clear enough to see over to Skye

A great walk in perfect conditions, and the enjoyable day continued by having a last minute change of plans to stay on in the area, so visited a friend in Gairloch (house envy for the views she's got) before an overnight lochside camp on the way to Poolewe.

Brilliant G and great pics, great views
I had less favourable conditions up there and the bypass was a bit a wet eroded deathtrap which was a bit hairy

Fine report!

I can't really take credit for the good photos, I just pointed my camera and pressed the button - it was the scenery and the weather which made them so good! Yes, if only every day in the hills was like that...

I'm a wimp; I wouldn't have been up there if the weather had been anything less than perfect! That's probably why it's taken me so long to do Liathach
