Some decent weather and just the afternoon free, so I headed to the northern fells to do the 4 Uldale fells I'd yet to do. A short walk on easy terrain, it could easily be varied to add in other hills like Knott and Great Cock Up, but I didn't have so much time today and so kept to the hills I hadn't done before. Started the day on 98 Wainwrights and finished on 102, the impressive sounding (but not quite as impressive looking) Great Sca Fell being number 100. As the walk was already going to be fairly short, I parked at Overwater to add a little bit more walking, though there's space for cars at Longlands Farm which would be the more logical place to park. A pleasant afternoon.

I did the walk anti-clockwise, so headed up towards Trusmadoor to do Meal Fell first

There's a large cairn/shelter on Meal Fell which I went to first, but then when I went to this smaller cairn it seemed on slightly higher ground (so view from what I think is the summit back to the big cairn with Skiddaw in the background)

A clear path took me down Meal Fell and then steeply up Great Sca Fell to reach my 100th Wainwright summit. A puddle, a pile of stones and a non-descript flat grassy summit area marked the century milestone. Fortunately I'm not on Instagram, so my achievements do not need to be photogenic :)

As my 100th, it gets 2 summit photos featured whether it warrants them or not. This was the view ahead to Little Sca Fell and then Brae Fell; the landscape gets pretty flat from Brae Fell north to Carlisle.

As I got to Brae Fell, this was the view back to Little Sca Fell and Great Sca Fell on the left, with Meal Fell in the right, barely noticeable in amongst the other grassy hills

APDC8972.JPG
Zoomed to show Meal Fell, the grassy hill in the middle, though Skiddaw tends to draw the eye more.

Brae Fell, looking over to Binsey, with Longlands Fell summit visible inbetween, the grassy triangle in this view. The straight line to it in this direction would mean crossing a ghyll, so I took the well trodden route curving around and heading up over Lowthwaite Fell first

APDC8974.JPG
From Lowthwaite Fell, looking back at Great Sca Fell (L) and Meal Fell (R) the 2 hills running across the middle of the photo (Knott is the higher ground in the background)

Last summit of the day, Longlands Fell, looking back at Brae Fell, Great Sca Fell and Knott

APDC8976.JPG
In the other direction, Overwater (where I was parked) and Binsey. The north end of Bassenthwaite sneaks into view on the left here

APDC8977.JPG
Back at Longlands Farm I thought I'd be heading back along the same single track road route to get to the car, but I saw a footpath sign and so followed that to Chapel House Farm and back out onto another minor road. This the view as I headed down the road back to the car at the end of Overwater

And a last view east to the hills done today
