This was our first outing for 2 weeks. Last week we travelled to Angus in theory to find the better weather as that was what we were led to believe, we got as far as Brechin in the heavy rain and decided to do a 180 and head home.
We left Fife at 7.30am and had planned to have breakfast in Inverness and then straight up to the parking spot for Klibreck. We took on umpteen calories with the large fried breakfast and once we arrived at the parking area for Klibreck it was obvious that cars were not welcome. The new construction site is literally across the road, right by the wee bridge. We were just getting ready when another car parked in front of us and would keep us company for the ascent.
We set off walking at 12.15pm which was much later than we would normally start, especially as we knew it would be dark about 6pm or possibly earlier considering the cloud cover.
After a brief chat with Ron & Leah we set off across the mush. The path if you could call it that was getting wider by the day as walkers search for drier ground, this goes on for about a mile - it was like walking in treacle, not that I have ever tried that and very energy sapping.

Looking across the road to new construction site

Looking south along the road, no parking cones have been placed for well over 800m - end result parking is very limited

Parminder showing off his shiny new jacket, first time on and he has only had it for 5 years

Doesn't this look inviting?

Parminder wanting a sideways shot of his new jacket

Underfoot conditions not improving, this is actually worse than Moruisg - and we all know how bad that is

Had to take a photo, a glimpse of blue sky and then it was gone

Firm ground at last

The first of a couple of cairns on Cnoc Sgriodain, the other 2 figures in the mist are Ron and Leah who accompanied us all the way to the summit

Much better terrain and a nice gradual rise

Following the well trodden path traversing Creag an Lochain

A bit of a view

A tiny hole in the cloud

Not sure why George is smiling?

The final push to the summit, after the mush lower down boulders were very welcome

Parminder examining the broken trig

Team photo on the summit, I am modelling the latest fashion trend - jodhpurs, I had the vents open on my waterproof trousers

Descending now, we didn't linger on the summit as we knew time was against us

Enjoying the view

As we lost height we started to see the surrounding area

Looking south (I think)

The cairn we passed on the way up, we headed off in the wrong direction (briefly) as the cairn is on a plateau

Cloud hugging the hillside

Arriving back at the car, the green light is bright because it was just about dark

One of George's photo's of Ron and Leah, great to meet you both
Even though the weather and conditions were pretty grotty it was just so good to get out and clear your head, especially with all the problems we are all having to endure these days.
We had a cunning weekend plan, we were meeting up with another 8 fellow walkers and staying in Ullapool until Sunday morning.
We arrived back at the car about 6pm and then had the 'interesting' drive in the dark along the single track roads before reaching the proper road (A835) and down into Ullapool. The rest of the gang were waiting for us in the Seaforth (pub) where we would have our dinner.
If anyone is heading to Ullapool, avoid the Seaforth, the food was very over priced and well below average, fish supper £19 and that is in Ullapool which is a fishing port!!! When were in the cafe at the Glencoe Ski Centre a fish supper there was only £12 and as we know Glencoe is in the middle of nowhere and it was much better quality. I better not say any more about the Seaforth or I may have lawyers chapping my door.
