With Zena just 9 away from reaching 100 hills, but the wind gust forecast to be high this week, some lower summits were in order! First up was Benaquhallie. Read various reports both here on Walkhighlands and on hill bagging and decided to try an approach from Upper Broomhill.

There was a nice parking space just along the track to Upper Dagie where I left the car and headed up to the ruined farm at Upper Broomhill turning left before the building to follow the track along a tree-lined corridor and round the back of the ruined farm. The track leads easily round the side of the hill, it is possible to cut straight up but we took the easier option. The walk was only an hour and twenty minutes as it was anyway!

As the wall comes into view we took a track that cut a corner, we actually went passed at first but spotted it when I looked back  This led to the wall which and right up to the trig point at the summit. Far more interesting though was the cairn to the south of the summit. Turned out that I was only looking at the top of it and once over a rise it was even bigger! Having visited the cairn we returned the same way :)

Hi KatTai

Probably a good decision to stay off the high tops yesterday (not sure the dogs would have liked it). I was stumbling about like a drunk on top of Mt Keen and at one point my hat took off and landed about 50 yards away.

Your fairly shooting through the Sub 2000's at the moment.

Yeah walking along Coiliochbhar Hill I was glad I stayed lower down, I was blown sideways a bit a couple of times just at that height! This one wasn't too bad because the hill was blocking the wind

Must say I'm enjoying the sub-2000s, I quite like having to figure out the best way to ascend and reading through the options, look at the maps etc
