This little 'balloon' had been left red in a sea of blue ever since the day on Cat Law when after stepping (accidentally) into a bog and disturbing dead sheep remains, I had made a hasty journey home to rid myself and clothes of the nauseating smell.

It was a delight to be back in the glen, and Corwharn was an excellent choice for a shorter walk with limited daylight.
Absolutely brilliant day - sunshine, no wind. Plenty of space to leave a car at the gateway just after Cormuir farm and then a walk back to follow the track up the southern slope of the Hill of Strone and across to the col (485m). Easy ascent at first but walking into strong low sunshine made route finding a little awkward near some of the peat edges. Had a snack at the cairn, clocked the actual summit, then followed fence line over to the Hill of Adenaich. Steeply (and a bit uncomfortably) down by the line of grouse butts, crossed the stream upstream of the ford (quite deep today), regained the track and so back to the car.

Excellent circular walk - superb views all round

Slightly awkward end to the day - got home to discover my text message (sent when I got back to the car) had not been received at all - I knew there was no reception up the glen, but assumed, as in past experience, that it would be delivered after I had driven back into a mobile mast range. Didn't work like that this time!!! No idea why .........................
