Third visit here. Thoroughly enjoyed the first two walks but not so much this one. Not sure why exactly but maybe because I felt I had gone the wrong way, having to make my way up the side of a field of coos. Still, as I am now nursing a hamstring injury from football I am grateful to myself for at least making the effort to go somewhere on a decent day weather-wise.

Possibly better to stay on this track for the start rather than following the signposted yellow route. I think that then avoids a boggy field crossing unless you walk as far as one of the fire breaks.

I followed the yellow route but then ended up crossing a field with coos in it, not that they were particularly bothered by my presence. A bit boggy though.

Image
All very pleasant at the start though.

Image
Good view of Corryhabbie and the Ladder Hills.

Image
The bonus muddy field with its indifferent coos.

Image
On a previous visit I took a descent shortcut through the wood here via one of the firebreaks.

Ben Rinnes to the north.

Image
After the boggy field I am onto a fairly decent path.

Rinnes zoom.

After the boggy junction it is a pleasant stroll along the Speyside Way path up to the top.

Image
The Buck makes an appearance. Bog central but with good views.

Image
Signpost before the summit indicating the shorter route up/down.

Image
Suddenly I am at the top with its view indicator and fine views.

Morven to the north.

The descent through the wood to the south was surprisingly dry underfoot, perhaps because of the frost.
