A rather damp but not too cold day greeted us - we had decided to 'tick' Dorain having missed it in our March trip - see blog -

The cloud offered up brief views from the col, where we turned south to head up Dorain.

Walking uphill had us hot - but there was a real nip in the air, particularly if you stepped too close to the edge and a wind.
We finally pulled up towards the false summit. We spoke to two other groups who were convinced the big cairn was the top - and so simply retreated back out the cold wind as soon as they touched the cairn. This is the false summit cairn:

My wife now doubted my memory - and thankfully I was proved correct when we met a few others and the real summit, a few hundred metres beyond the big cairn and on an airy little ridge.

By now the cold came in, as did the wet. So having been down to baselayers on the way up, we now had hat, gloves, and full waterproofs on. So we bailed out with no descent images....
