We found this very isolated hotel to begin the drive down the track before using the bikes. We saw parties of fishermen, but no walkers.
A good part of the track was pretty reasonable and it was a pleasant ride in good weather

We had a fairly uneventful hike to the top & admired the views, then it was time to get back to the bikes and a second lunch.

Ponyexpress was following behind, but she soon overtook me

But that was when we had our problem
She went a bit too fast and didn’t see a big cobble in the middle of the track
Over the handlebars she went
Blood all over her face. I thought the worst
Fortunately it was only flesh wounds. The helmet was cracked, so it saved her
Even the bike was okay. So we made our way very slowly back to the car. She has since slowed down on the bike
