Just a quick report from a couple of weeks ago. This was a Granite City Hillwalkers meet staying at the Ochils Mountaineering Club cottage in Crianlarich. While the weather leading up to this weekend was glorious it had decided to break on the Friday. Saturday morning dawned wet and cloudy. So the planned walk to bag all three of the Arrochar Alp Munro was shelved in favour of just doing Ben Vorlich. With the forecast for the weather to improve latter in the day three of us got under way dead on 10am (from free car park!). Not too much to report - took the standard way up. Disappeared into the cloud around 700m. By way of variation we decided to go back via the southern top. This way gives great views over Loch Lomond - unfortunately we were just in the base of the cloud for the best view. There is a path along the top and for a bit on the way down but it soon peters out. This descent was pretty tricky and if I'd have been going up would have had second thoughts out taking this way. In hindsight we would have been better heading further SW (rather than SSW) towards the transmitter at NN 315102 and then take the track back to the road.

Ben Vorlich Descent - it was steep!
