Didn't have any route in particular planned, thought I'd set off from Honister Hause and just try and do a handful of hills. The weather was fantastic, made finding my way between the fells really easy. Route ended up as Honister Hause - Grey Knotts - Brandreth - Green Gable - Base Brown - back to ground between Brandreth and Green Gable - Haystacks - Fleetwith Pike - Honister Hause. Very roughly this route:

Should have labelled these photos soon after doing the walk rather than looking at them months later - this was maybe Grey Knotts eastern summit..?

APDC8782.JPG
...and this the western one? (Took too many photos to know what they were now, months later!)

Wasn't sure which cairn on Haystacks was the true summit, so I went to both; this the first one.

Looking further along the ridge (to High Stile?). Not continuing along today though.

The second cairn visited on the summit area of Haystacks, looking back south to the first

Looking along Buttermere and Crummock Water as I started to head down, by Blackbeck Tarn and Green Crag

Hadn't been intending to do Fleetwith Pike, but it's been about 20 years since I was last up it, so headed up past Dubs slate quarry

Down past Hopper slate quarry (I think?), bringing to an end a great day in peaceful hills

This looks like a really good circuit (I've done half of these hills as the C2C route goes from Ennerdale to Honister).

Where are all the peeps (the time I was on Haystacks it was a Tuesday afternoon in June and it was mobbed)???????????

I saw a few people through the day, but in drips and drabs and nobody taking the same route as me. I'm used to doing hills in the Highlands, often midweek as I'm a shift worker, so if I see a handful of people on a walk, it feels mobbed to me
