The route

Parked at space on B846 next to Loch and set off on bikes along the path. Husband on his gravel bike and me on my E-MTB. Long steady climb to 530m leaving bikes at the old Corrour Lodge ruins. Took us about an hour to cycle to here.

Old Corrour Ruins

Just headed up hill from there. There was snow but it was soft n slushy. Had on my leather boots and gaiters so feet nice and dry but going was a bit of a slog, lifting legs higher than normal. Took us about another hour and bit to the summit of Carn Dearg. It was a lovely day but chilly so didn’t hang about and wheeched off to get the second in and retraced our steps. Some of the drifts were deep but the sun was high and by the time we got back to the bikes, there had been significant snow melt. Enough to make the ford impassable with bikes so we had to go upstream to cross. Got back to van about 1615.

This is a quick way of getting these hills in without relying on trains. The cycle back is a freewheel virtually all the way and I’m sure they could be done much more quickly in drier weather in summer boots.

Thanks for sharing this route!

I am pretty sure that Beinn na Lap could be added to this, I assume the track looked as though it kept going to Loch Ossian?
Really tempted to give this a go, thank you for the report.

Yes I’d assume the track is good all the way over. It was the original Road to the Isles. I did. Beinn na Lap a couple of years ago by train and it was a quick one so yes you could do all three in a day and bike out again.
