A great day in sensational conditions at Bridge of Orchy. We followed the obvious path from the station up to the bealach before turning South in ludcrously strong winds (which were worst at the bealach) towards Beinn Dorain. Just before the false summit the path splits: we took what appeared to be the clearer one, eventually taking us underneath both summits on the West side of the mountain before doubling back to the summit. This had the benefit of sheltering us from the eastern wind, but had the wind come from the West this would have been a hair-raising walk high above the glen! From Beinn Dorain we returned over the false summit back to the bealach, and followed the path up to Beinn an Dothaidh. This path peters out in the centre of the corrie, but unless conditions are misty the central summit is easily located by heading up to the left of the 993m peak and turning North. The view over Rannoch Moor is simply breathtaking, with Ben Nevis clear as day to the North and Ben Cruachan and the Black Mount peaks looking splendid to the West. The central and western summits are great spots to while away some time, with Loch Tulla down below. Eventually we descended once more to the bealach and back down to Bridge of Orchy. Care has to be taken in the corrie below the bealach. I assumed we were clear of the worst footing problems when the gradient lessened, before falling on my backside near a ford! In the end it was a relief to reach Bridge of Orchy and relax with a cool drink waiting for the train, after a cracking day out. 8)

Nice pictures Craig. I'm really looking forward to the chance of doing these two soon. Here's hoping I get the same great views.
