Easter Weekend and off work Friday so fancied a decent walk without a long drive to get there. Usually just end up doing a long loop of Bennachie but wanted something more, so decided on Mount Battock as been up Clachnaben many a time but never kept going.

It was a fine clear day and although I was kitted out for the usual Scottish Weather, I ended up filling my my bag with all the other top layers I was wearing and ended up needing only the flask and sandwiches out of it. Hey ho, the girl guide in me is always prepared :)

This has to be one of the easiest long hill walks I have been on, it was clear from the top of Clachnaben exactly where I was going and so even though I had read the Walk Highlands info - which was very clear - it was a case of just carrying on walking on the clear path, after I climbed over Clachnaben. I could see Mount Battock in the distance, and see much of the path I was going to take too. I hardly felt I was climbing much again after that although there were one or two steep bits so I was glad of the walking poles for the descent. The views walking from Clachnaben to Mount Battock were fabulous as it was such a clear day. This would be a great walk if going with a friend as you could easily walk two abreast and still have space. Some may think it a boring walk but the dog and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Very peaceful too. I met only 2 other people after I left Clachnaben, one descending and one ascending even though it was a holiday weekend. Imagine it is possibly busier on a weekend though.
