I had looked at doing the Walkhighlands route for these hills but noticed it missed out on a few of the local tops so I decided to include Carn Macoul on the walk in and Gael Charn & Craeg na h-lolaire on the walk out.

The walk in to the base of Carn Macoul takes you past the ruined Dalballoch lodge, stick to the path until you reach a small cairn at the 6km mark.

From the cairn head directly up the hill through the crags, if you are using my gpx file don't be too concerned about coming off route, find your own way up onto the summit whatever way you are comfortable with.

From Carn Macoul head over onto Carn Dearg and join the baggers path all the way to A' Chailleach, from here head over to Gael Charn & Craeg na h-lolaire and enjoy views of Creag Liath and Newtonmore on your walk out.
