Was a very wet and cold morning, but having climbed Bidean Nam Bian a few years ago without doing it's neighbour, we had unfinished business...
Rain dried up a bit after we set off, and apart from the odd shower we were reasonably lucky with the weather. Was grey but cloud base was about 1000m.
Managed to edge across the river crossing without major incident but any more rain and we knew we'd have a more interesting return.
Had never been up this way so was very much looking forward to seeing it. Wasn't disappointed. In fact if you remember the old Playstation 1, all that was missing was Lara Croft and T-Rex.
Path ascends reasonably gently up the right hand side of the valley before the start of the headwall. Had read a lot about this, and had built it up in my mind to be super difficult. In reality did't find it too bad either going up or going down. Wasn't great - loose scree, wet rock and steep at the end, but we all managed without incident.
Reached the bealach after 2.5 hours, after which a straightforward ascent to the summit hindered only by a light dusting of snow and a bit of cloud...
Quick picnic at 'Hanging Rock'
Was no way I could get back across the water. The other two had good gaiters, so 'ran' across without too much incident, but I chose the old fashioned approach....
Freezing!
Back to car after 5 hours. A very good day!
