This is such a pretty little walk, especially if you change the route to include the river section for the way out and back. We followed the original walk, but would highly recommend to use the car park Little Garve. This allows to follow the very pretty little river and to have that also on the way back. Great to sit down in the sunshine and to enjoy the scenery and the river rapids making their way down into the valley.

For our walk we followed the WH instructions, starting at the parking and making our way across the motorway and up the hill. Most of the way up follows a farm track. This makes for a fairly easy walk up, but not for much diversity in terms of views. Once you reach the first gate, it does get a little more interesting and some views are opening up. I did not expect that the farm track would go all the way to the top - but it does! This means that this is quite a nice one to do even in wet weather, without it ever getting boggy. The rocks and gravel can get a little slippery though on the way down.

The views from the top are quite nice, especially since you can now see the other side of the mountain and the top of Wyvis. You can even see the sea in the distance with it being close enough to see the ships without a binocular. We did not stay long though as it was rather wet and windy. The way down is quickly down and easy enough on the farm track.

We were lucky that the weather changed on the way down and the sun started to come out. This made the way down quite scenic, especially with the heather in full bloom. We decided to add on the river section which was just the right thing to do. The trails are in excellent quality and quite varied following the river with its rapids and gorges. It invited to sit down and enjoy the sunshine.

Lovely day out altogether and really enjoyed strolling through the woodlands and sitting along the river on the rocks.
