These two Munros were some of the lowest-hanging fruit I still had to pick as a mostly by public transport Munro bagger. I took the bus up to Bridge of Orchy on Friday afternoon, spending the night at the hostel on the train platform - an interesting experience! Original plan had been to head to Loch Ossian SYHA afterwards to bag the Corrour Munros the next day, but lack of availability there mean this was going to be a quicker trip.

Setting off just before 0800, the route up to the bealach is pretty easy going but my legs were feeling very heavy so I was overtaken by several other walkers. Never mind, I had an hour spare at the upper end of the WH estimate to make sure I got my bus home.

From the bealach, I followed the WH route, taking in Beinn Dorain first. Again, the route finding and terrain is straightforward, though the slab section could be tricky when wet - I got lucky and the weather was much nicer than forecast. The summit offered a great view of Ben Cruachan among many others.

Getting the first summit under my belt gave me my usual boost, and I enjoyed a running most of the way back to the bealach. The route up to Beinn a Dothaidh is boggier, and the path less distinct, but on a clear day at least it's easy to see where you're headed! The clouds closed in at the summit but cleared just enough as I was heading off to get a lovely clear view of Ben Nevis.

Despite my slow start, I'd made up enough time for a) an Irish woman passing me on her way up to remark on how early Scottish people get up, and b) to get a great feed and a cold pint at the Bridge of Orchy hotel before my bus home!

Munros 123-124.
