This was my first solo monro, i wanted to do it to prove to myself that i could and also to build my own confidence for future walks.
I started off at the visitors car park at Inveruglas at around 1030am. after crossing the road i followed the path upto the access road for Loch Sloy .Once through the gate and under the railway bridge i continued on the road in the direction of Loch Sloy. The sun was shining and it was a lovely day. After passing the sub station and following the descriptions on previous posts around 40 minutes into the walk my eyes were peeled to the right hand side of the road looking for a small cairn, its not so much a cairn as a group of small stones / boulders at the side of the road. After finding the stones i walked past them a couple of metres as someone else posted and the path is there. It is quite a steep climb and i was on and off the path a few times until eventually it becomes clearer . After a few stops to have a drink, catch my breath and rest my legs i finally made it onto the ridge . I continued on to the trig point and then the cairn, where i had a bite to eat and a chat with a chap who was climbing his 100th monro. He had the same problem as myself in that he was on and off the path at the beginning. The descent was quite quick and the path can be seen all the way down, i wondered how i could possibly have missed it on the way up. When i reached the bottom and back on the Sloy acces road my legs felt like jelly for about 10 minutes . I was really chuffed with myself after my first solo munro , the weather was great and not to cold or windy at the top. It was a very pleasant walk back to the car park. The next couple of days i really felt the walk in my legs , ouch !!!!

Congratulations. That's you started solo now there'll be no stopping you. It's nice to walk with others from time to time but there're lots of benefits to going solo and you often tend to meet others anyway. :D
