Great day out with Chris Dave and Chelsea
Walking by 0745 so no real need for the head torch. On up and along the track again until you reach the gate with " use the stile " on it for some obscure reason.
Rather than go along by the river as I'd done the first time we decided to skirt up by the edge of the plantation and contour round and up to the munro Top - Stob an Fhuarain
Kept left of the big fissure and went up steeply eventually picking up the " path " leading up to the top. Every waterfall, stream , and puddle was frozen solid - dodgy stuff to even attempt walking on , so take a second or two to look round and skirt round or over
The top is set further back from what you see , so that means false summits.
Reached the top at last ( I'd been out the past few nights at 2 gigs and working so the late nights had taken a toll on me me today, felt tired and not 100% on the walk up)
- Chris 100th Munro top - Stob an Fhuarain
- Great views all round today
And so it was time to head for the main summit of sgor na h-ulaidh .
Fenceline and path to follow down to the beallach and then a steep ascent up.
- Steep icy wee ascent
Precarious in places and quite a bit of it was sheet ice , so get off the path and clamber up the tufts/ grass.
Wayhey , up top and a short distance now along to the summit , quick view down that gulley of no return ( dodgy, stay clear, don't go down )
- Chris and Dave on the summit with the Ben in between
- It was Chelseas 51st today , and Chris's 199th
Refreshments at the summit, take in the view, don the spikes just to be on the safe side and head back down ( gingerly) and along ,up and over the top again.
- The Ben and Co.
Down a bit and pick up a kinda path
down to the main path by the stream.
Headtorches only required for the short journey on the road back to the cars.
A great day , great company, thanks guys
