After a discussion from a few scout network folk we decided that we were going to get fit and back to our younger (scout) years and start hill walking again. For our first hill we choose Ben Vorlich as I has remembered doing this hill back when i was 12 :? . So with the cars parked up at the information centre off we went
As we got close to the base of Ben Vorlich the great scottish weather kicked in and as the rain was driving we got our heads down and managed to march straight passed the cairn  so we had to take a sharp right and head up the hill via an alternative steep route until we eventually after about an hour got onto the real path :D
as we progressed further up the hill the wind decided to pick up slightly and thus bringing with it some unsusual weather conditions. We had some sun, some rain, some sleet, and as said some really blustery conditions.
i will be honest and say this is the strongest wind i have ever felt while being on a hill and was strong enough to knock one of the guys who is 15stone off his feet, but we pushed on regardless till we made it to the flatter section of the hill nearing the summit the summit its self was very windy but the small shelter beside it was a god send and we all made the cairn at the top, so after the pictures we turned back around and headed down the route we ascended on and stopped for lunch beside the rock faces as they were sheltered, it was here that we seen how quickly the weather can change on a hill

as we started on the desent we noticed that the hill was getting busier as about another 10 people were heading to the summit including a great pair of guys who were visitors to this site and were looking at taking the ridge route back off the hill, so best of luck to them and hope it all went well for use 8)

so all in all it was a good and challenging day for all 3 of us in terms of showing were we need to improve in fitness, in skills and with gear. But we all had fun and are planning our next trip very soon :D
