We did this route as it looked the most sensible given as our time was limited today.
It was a fairly steady walk until your reach the base of West Lomond then its pretty much all up. But steady away, and we reached the top. The views were good, if a little hazy. Upon heading down the SE flank my wife was not best pleased by the steepness of the path, and there was a lot of grumbling. Tbh, I was glad we hadn't done this route in reverse as this climb would have been horrible. The rest of the walk was pleasant, and the views over the reservoirs rather good. Not a big fan of the Bull in Field signs, but thought it best to just ignore them.
