A real big day out for the first one of the year, but ideal weather, cool and overcast meant it couldn't be better. This is actually a repeat of the first ever camping trip I did as a child some 40 years ago, but just as a long day.
Very little has changed in those 40 years, the deer fences at Luibeg are gone and the forest there has grown up and is very dense now around the river and there does seem to be saplings now growing out as well.

Summit of The Angel's Peak
Almost didn't stop here, didn't think Angel's Peak was still a Munro or has been added recently, can't remember.

Summit of Braeriach
After reaching the summit of Braeriach, the quickest way back down is to follow the faint path down through the aircraft crash debris to the East. Following the path round towards the North, once you get to the dip prior to the wander up to Sron Na Lairige, turn East towards a small cairn with a marker with a white piece of plane debris sticking out the top. A faint track leads off and over the edge and zig zags down into the bowl before disappearing.

At this point I just followed one of the larger burns down, past one of engines of the crashed Bristol Blenheim (think that's this one, there's crash debris from two separate aircraft here).

Down at the river down from the Pools of Dee. From here's it's the long trek back out to Derry Lodge and the awaiting bike.

Devil's Point, dwarfed when viewed in the other direction, but a fine mountain otherwise
This was a very long trek, without the bike, it would have been too long of a day I suspect, starting at 8.15am and a bike up past Derry Lodge (and could have went a mile or so further as well), I didn't get back to the car until 8.30pm, so made the most of the mid summer daylight.
