I am 5 foot 2 on a good day and have a reasonably bad fear of heights - in case there are any other scared hobbits out there, I thought it would be useful to write walk reports with a specific focus on on things that were difficult/scared me as I don't often see my experience in the walk reports!
We've been on a bit of a roll with hills after much hiatus due to weather and we're currently based with the in laws in Dingwall for a week of bagging. First up this week was Ben Kilbreck. A very, very boggy affair for much of it yet still a much more enjoyable and varied walk than we had expected.
The hill presents no difficulties height wise as there is no scrambling or bad steps, but the section that runs along the western flank that is described by the main route description as not being passable in winter is AWFUL. There are many things that set off my broken brain and walking along the side of a very steep slope on a very narrow, muddy path is one of them.
The mud certainly didn't help as foot placement wasn't always secure and the wind had also picked up but even in perfect conditions I think I woild have found it challenging. I am unsure how long the bypass path over Creag an Lochain would add to total time but if we do it again, I have informed my wife that's the route I will be taking and she can meet me on the other side

. I should add this is one of those walk features where my wife, whose brain is normal and is not trying to kill her, was baffled that it was even causing an issue, and I did also make it to the other side without a panic attack, so I am perhaps being melodramatic
Me being entirely normal (this was not the worst section, I refused to stop at the worst section)
Path of doom on the return
