Pathfinderpaul was planning to do all four with a trip on the ferry for a last go on the Munroes for this year. However while we were staying nr Oban we decided he should have a try at the three Glen Dessary Munroes as weather was good, but I didn’t feel fit enough to go with him. So last week he took a tent & managed to do them, but as “baggers” will know it can be a very tiring outing. He was trying to do this very big outing only five days after that trip & he realised he just wasn’t up to it so soon after, he is in his mid seventies
So we decided we would split them up and make a start by doing the first one & hopefully have a go at the others from Glen Strathfarrer. The bonus was that I didn’t have to spend the whole day in Cannich on my own but could go with him, as I had only been up one this holiday with Ben More on Mull. Just a couple of other cars on the carpark as we set off & just one as we got back.

A look back down the lane, where on our return we picked up a couple of Belgium backpackers , not youngsters who come accross from Glen Strathfarrer & camped on the ridge  They were all in & were very grateful for the lift

As we set off from the dam we saw where the ferry left from, perhaps for the future as one possibillity?

weather was good as we set off down the track :)

We decided as we were only doing the first hill that we would try the bulldozed track and then join the Walkhighlands route & come back down their route.

The going wasn't too bad, there had been a dry spell, so not too wet :D

Soon the dam looked a good way off

Cloud base stayed on the tops of the Glen Affric hill.

Then onto the rockier ground to head up to the summit. :)

The rest of the ridge stayed in cloud all day. :( Just needed to make sure we got to the real summit

A great day to end our holiday, hope we are up to coming back next year for the other three

I see you are in Mold, by coincidence we were there yesterday visiting my Auntie. A nice town with great walks in the Clwydian hills.

This is a really useful report for walkers such as myself who, if I ever visit the Mullardochs, would aim to do them in ones and twos rather than the full traverse and lakeside walk, which looks like a real epic. So, thanks for posting!

Hi Tim, we have to pace ourselves now we are in our seventies, so makes a lot of sense. I guess An Socach is the one we wonder how we might get to  A bike may have to be used perhaps? If you are in Mold again let us know :) Joan

Glad to see you both got another hill day together before the end of your holidays. Nice pictures.
