Parked at the Forestry and Land car park at Freuchies and set off in the dry along the road toward Glenmarkie Lodge, it started raining within 1km, but I expected it would just be a shower, and held off the waterproof jacket till I was wet through. Thought I saw a gap in trees so headed off north west across felled and replanted areas (awful) into larger trees, of which a lot were windblown (awfuler), eventually exited tree hell and made it to the top of Crock, to which I would add "of sh*t". Soaked by now I never even tried to take a photo, the rain was pouring down through mist, just headed north east to try and find where the smaller trees met the larger trees, with the idea of heading down the edge of the smaller trees. Went too far north and ended in windblow hell and spent half an hour trying to traverse the slope southward till eventually finding the smaller trees, and the going down along the edge of these smaller trees was a little easier. Back onto the forestry road, and after giving thanks for my survival through Mirkwood, continued around a newish forestry road to near its highpoint just west of Hare cairn, before heading up through easier felled areas to the top. Returned same way to the car, and headed to Kirriemuir, soaked, for some hot food. Crock is really hard work with blown trees everywhere, cannot comment on the views cos I didn't get any.

Yup! That’s Crock for you   honestly, if you’d had just given the description of your walk those of us who have done the hill would know just from that. Not one I am intending in repeating. Hare Cairn makes up for it though :)
