Drove down , slept in the motor at the farm car park. Up early and away up steeply up to Fleetwith pike, for the view I wanted to see
- Where I'm heading 1st
- Looking across at Haystacks where I'll be later
- Summit - great view
A few camping up high . Spoke to one who said it was a tad windy and cold during the night
- Slate mine/ quarry with Grey knotts beyond.
3 possible tops up here so I visited them all
Only a short distance from grey knotts to brandreth - less than a km
- Summit of Brandreth. Flat plateau with a few cairns dotted around this one being Wainwrights
Follow the fence basically al the way down roughly to a good path and gate through this and cut across to the other fence heading up. Going this way you'll stay on the left of the larger tarn and bypass that one. I cut off from thus and found the tarn I was looking for - innominate tarn - Where Alfred Wainwright ashes were scattered I believe. Wee sit down here and a few minutes uses reflection on various things.
- Innominate tarn with Great Gable behind . The small top on the right of the tarn has a small cairn on it - unsure if this is for Wainwright - menbees !!!
Time to head up to Haystacks and explore the various tops and views before finding the steep rocky path down.
- Looking back to Fleetwith pike and the quarry
- Lovely view from up top
Goid walk back down - views of today's hills getting better
Cheers lake district- you failed to dissapoint again
