I think this is a route less travelled for Beinn Chabhair than the one from Inverarnan. That's probably one of the reasons I chose it.
This route is land rover track for pretty much half of the way. I know that's enough to put many people off but, for today, I liked the idea of a gentle approach in the sunshine and an easy finish.
Start off from Derrydaroch following the WHW for a while:
- Derrydaroch Farm on WHW
Easy route on the land rover track for just over 3k to the small hydro dam
- Easy walking with Beinn Chabhair front and centre from early on
- Small hydro dam marks the end of the track
The payback for taking this easy approach is that after the end of the track you hit the hillside and there's no path.
I'd decided to climb via Meall nan Tarmachan and I plotted a route which took me up the NNE face of it. It's a mostly grassy slope but steep enough to need hands down in places. This is probably not the best way to reach the top

From the top of Meall nan Tarmachan I could see a clear path coming on from Ben Glas and winding it's way from the bealach up Beinn Chabhair. The path was easier going than the pathless hillside.

Although it was a bit of a hazy day I had decent views as I walked across the top towards the summit cairn.

Stopped to take in the rest of the Crianlarich hills on way back down.
- Crianlarich Hills
I skipped Meall nan Tarmachan on the descent and headed straight down from the bealach into Coire a Chuilinn, although still pathless this was not as steep as my ascent.
I headed back towards the hydro dam and picked up the track for an easy last 3k.
