After a long break from hill walking, and tackling a Corbett the day before, we decided to do a shorter walk and just tackle Càrn Aosda and The Cairnwell. We started off with lunch at the ski centre before making our way to the start of the track.

The track up to Càrn Aosda was steep in places so we took it slow and steady. The dog was in her element running around in the heather next to the track. When we reached the summit we had a lovely view, although obscured in places due to the patches of mist drifting around.

We could just see the summit of The Cairnwell peeking through the clouds.

From there we made our way towards the other Munros, where the suggested route advises you to go off to the right, we instead made our way straight ahead. The mist was coming down around us and soon we were walking in the clouds, which was quite refreshing. The track was easy to follow.

We had a short, steep pull up to the summit of the Cairnwell. Unfortunately the mist meant that there was no view to be seen so we lingered only long enough to eat a snack before heading back to retrace our steps.

The ski lifts appearing through the mist made for a rather atmospheric walk.

The descent was easy and it wasn't long before we were back at the ski centre and headed off for a pub dinner.
