Mayar & Dreish

I wanted my Dad
to take me out again as I had not been out since last year and Carn a' Mhaim when i was 11years old with my Uncle Derek and my fav cousin . From our house we can see Mount keen and Lochnagar and i wanted to go to Mount Keen as ive been up Lochnagar already. Once we spoke about it we decided to do Mayar & Dreish on the Saturday then do Mount Keen on the Sunday. The walking was good with some great views of the surrounding area leading up to Mayar and it's Corrie . The weather was ok but it was cloudy and by the time we got to Mayar summit the clouds were moving in so we headed of towards Dreish . We seen a few birds of prey on the way and a hare . By the time we got to Dreish Summit the whole area was under cloud cover with visabilty around 80feet all round. We could'nt see that much really because of the low clouds which was a pity but we did manage to see Lochnagar and the Glenshee area for a brief moment. When my Dad (whom helped me with this post) researched routes for this hike most people do Dreish 1st then Mayar but its more visually impressive doing Mayar 1st as it's Corrie is awesome and large and looks like a meteor has hit the Mountain at some point . Sadly i became a bit ill and so we did not stay in the area on Saturday after out hike, we just headed back home and had to leave Mount Keen for another day. I enjoyed my walk although it was not the best weather.
