Deuchary Hill from the south, from the Cally Car Park near Dunkeld with Kids (10, 13 y/o)Hill no. 190 - Sub2000 no. 100We have completed the first hundred

. I know, it is not a hundred Munros, it is a hundred 'only' Sub2000s, but to be honest, many Sub2000s are a lot more challenging than many Munros. There is no road to many of Sub2000s, even though there is one in the OS map

. When you go up on a Sub2000, you will often see the worst of what you are likely to encounter in the mountains

. Those of you who have experienced it first hand know what I am talking about.
Anyway, it was a lot of fun, great memories

.
We did not walk the whole WH route
Loch Ordie and Deuchary Hill, Dunkeld, just up Deuchary Hill and the same way back. It was an easy, pleasant walk.
Stats:Total distance - 13.0 km
Total time - 5h26m
Altitude gain - 390 m
Map of our route:Elevation profile of our route:We left the car in the Cally Car Park. From there we first followed the good track, the Atholl Woods Path - to Mill Dam (there is a sign for it).
- Cally Car Park north of Dunkeld.
- Signposts at the car park.
- Entrance gate at the car park.
- Know the code before you go.
- Deer at Upper Hatton.
- Stone bridge at Birkenburn.
After 3.5 km, just before Mill Dam, we left the Atholl Woods Path and continued on the track - Upper path to Loch Ordie.
A few metres after the turn-off, at the bridge over the Mill Dam's outflow (Lunan Burn), we saw clear signs of beavers. Apparently they have been there for a while. Their activity is impressive.
- Signs of beavers along the Lunan Burn below the Mill Dam.
- Signs of beavers at the Mill Dam.
- Signs of beavers at the Mill Dam. I think this tree was quite thick.
- Mill Dam.
After roughly 1.5 km from Mill Dam we left the track - Upper path to Loch Ordie - and continued on the grassy track - Path to Butterstone.
- On the Path to Butterstone, Deuchary Hill in sight.
We left the Path to Butterstone after the bend where the path crosses the Leddown Burn. Just after the bend there is a rock on the left and the path to the top starts behind it.
- The bend where the path crosses the Leddown Burn.
- Start of the path to the top of Deuchary Hill.
The path is very steep in places, but clear. Higher up it crosses a small bog.
- Steep section.
- Looking back.
- Almost there :)
- Conni on the top of Deuchary Hill. Looking NNW - Loch Ordie, Beinn a' Ghlò in the distance.
- Beinn a' Ghlò.
- Looking WNW towards Lochan na Beinne. Schiehallion in the distance in the middle (looks strange).
- Schiehallion.
- Looking NW. Lochan na Beinne on the left, Loch Ordie on the right.
We returned the same way.
- Heading back.
- Triple fence near Mill Dam. :)
It was a very pleasant walk, a very nice day.
