Had met future hubby earlier that spring and he was anxious to show me where he had spent many of his previous years in Borrowdale. First up was some climbing at Shepherds Crag - haven't done any of that since - and then, after a big evening out at the Yew Tree in Seatoller and a cosy night with the Blands at Thorneythwaite Farm, headed into Keswick via the High Spy ridge, the Swinside Inn and the ferry from Hawse End.

Climbing on Brown Slabs at Shepherds Crag pursued by an instructor
and some kind of climbing school for kids. Quite unpleasant.

It was quite windy by the time we got onto High Spy

And, finally, on Cat Bells. Time to head to the Swinside.
Somehow still together nearly 40 years on so, clearly, an enjoyable trip near the start of something bigger.

Thank you Titanium Tim; I'm certainly younger in the photos than I am now!
