I remember this frankly rather dull Munro for all the RIGHT reasons - what a fantastic day I had for my first visit! Yes, it is a dull rounded heat of sedgy moss but on this day way back then, it was at the end of probably the most fabulous week I have ever enjoyed in the Highlands. Anyone with any records going back that far might confirm that the weather was beyond glorious in early September - it was almost unbelievable - hot sun, dry, even dusty trails and the views went on into infinity, I've never forgotten it.
So this recent Walkhighlands suggestion pinged my happy memory. Being the last day of an awesome week in residence at Newtonmore it was my wind-down walk as I headed South to home - and work - oh dear. This usually soggy mess of a hill was dry and perfectly pleasant but the views..........? they just went on forever! I sat at the summit for simply ages looking at them and they really do surround you up there - it is a fantastic central hub.
So pick a good day when you go and visit - I know we usually don't 'waste a good day' on a nothing type hill but this guy should be the exception. It's a grand lookout.
