We had looked to do the Buck of Cabrach in the snow the previous Saturday but decided against it. With snow ploughed road we thought we may not be able to park.
After a very quick thaw and a forcast of a balmy 10° we headed for the Buck again. In glorious sunshine! We parked a little bit further along the road than in the walkhighlands route. Enough space to reverse off the road completly into a little hollow.

We started the walk on the track marked on OS map passed grouse butts to the East of the fence line.

After reports of the walk being very wet we were plesantly surprised. The worst of the boggy ground was avoided by starting on the track then joining the path along the fence when the track peters out. After a short stretch the path becomes steeper and drier. We reached the rocky summit within an hour.
It is a surprisingly impressive viewpoint for most of the North East and the Cairngorms. Particularly on a clear day like we had.

A simple return in time for lunch back at the car in just over 2hrs. A great hill for a January morning.
